John O. Kellam
Owner of McIntosh-Anderson Funeral Home
Business Person of the Year
At the 13th Annual Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Dinner, held on the evening of Thursday September 18th, 2008, John Kellam was awarded Business Person of the Year. A funeral director for nearly four decades, purchased the McIntosh-Anderson Funeral Home Ltd. in 1994.

He gives back to the community in numerous ways, including a $15,000 donation on behalf of the Antique Automobile Club of America to the Oshawa Hospital Foundation in support of the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre.
John is an active member of the North Oshawa Lions Club. He received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2006, the highest honour a Lions Club member can receive. He serves as President of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Oshawa-Whitby Board of Directors.
John is dedicated to continually improving his business for both aesthetic and environmental purposes and is very pleased to have received this honour.
The New Face of
McIntosh-Anderson Funeral Home Ltd.
McIntosh-Anderson Funeral Home Ltd., is very proud to be a family owned and operated business located in the heart of Oshawa. Owners John & Willie Kellam are pleased that two of their three sons are taking on a more active roll in the day to day operations of the funeral home. This past July, Jeffrey Kellam successfully passed his Board of Funeral Services exams and is now a fully licensed Funeral Director. Shawn Kellam, who has been filling in hours between classes, will join the staff full time upon completing his program in Criminology and Justice Policy at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in the summer of 2008. Their new and modern ideas are putting a new face on the way McIntosh-Anderson conducts business. Personalized services are being taken to new levels through the use of new media. Memorial DVD’s and visual tributes create a focal point for families and friends during visitation periods. The ability to take the videos home after the funeral ensures that the family has a lasting tribute of their loved one. Copies may also be sent to family members across the globe that were not able to attend the funeral. McIntosh-Anderson are also taking a greener approach on the options available to the families they serve.
McIntosh-Anderson Funeral Home Ltd. is a duly licensed facility under the Board of Funeral Services. They are committed to serving each family to the highest possible standards. Services include Advance Funeral Planning, Family Care (practical assistance following the funeral), AfterLoss (bereavement support help through monthly newsletters) in addition to hosting two grief support groups each Spring and Fall. Their Annual Christmas Memorial Service grows each year with over 500 community attendees. All support group and Christmas Memorial Services are open to any member of the community who has experienced a loss.
